Cinghiale

Sudden and abrupt
Stop
Everything

Slow and careful
Back up-
Retrace steps

Eyes locked
Standing ground
Threatened

Two creatures
Interrupt each other's paths
Accidental encounter

Fear

so jarring
so hollow
quartered the night into bits
splinters scattered, shattered

so engulfing
so unseen
ripped into an unknown state
vulnerable, trembling

so invasive
so brutish
menacingly demanded
WHAT IF/ WHAT IF/ WHAT IF

-Kim

week away from it
living blue sky beaches
while one pink plant died

I don't want
to turn my back on you
friend

I don't need to say
"what a mess this is"
"where do we begin"

time is so slippery
it moves so fast,
so unpredictably

I don't think
I'll ever understand
life: this great mystery
